PM will offer Anjali to Maa Durga this Ashtami in Kolkata, receives multiple invitations
Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to lead a protest at Y-Channel in Dharmatala today after permission for a demonstration at Rani Rashmoni Avenue was not granted by Kolkata Police. The Trinamool Congress had initially sought approval for the original venue, but following the police decision, the programme was shifted. After receiving clearance for the new location, Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to hold the protest from 2 pm to 4 pm.
The demonstration is expected to draw significant political attention amid the ongoing developments in West Bengal’s post-election landscape. Attention will remain on the participation of senior Trinamool Congress leaders and party workers, as the event marks one of the party’s major political programmes following the recent change in government.
Another key development being closely watched is the controversy surrounding the recent incident inside the State Assembly. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated on Tuesday that an FIR had been registered at Hare Street Police Station following complaints submitted by two Trinamool MLAs. He said the matter would proceed according to legal procedures.
The case has since expanded into a wider investigation involving both the state police and the Criminal Investigation Department. Authorities are continuing their inquiries into the incident, and attention remains focused on whether any fresh developments emerge as the investigation progresses.
The Assembly controversy has already resulted in organisational action within the Trinamool Congress. The party has expelled MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, the weather department has forecast widespread rainfall across several districts of South Bengal, while parts of North Bengal are expected to experience favourable weather conditions.
